THE PROCEDURE FOR APOSTILLE IN INDIA

Documents Apostille Services

India’s central government decentralized the process of Apostille. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is in charge of document apostille. The procedure begins with the local notary where the document is assigned and proceeds through the state authentication process. The MEA apostille sticker is the final step.

Notary Attestation
This is the initial stage in multiple documents’ authentication. A lawyer or collector’s office completes this work at the regional level.

Home Department Attestation
It is a state-owned body that certifies the papers issued under the same administration.

HRD Attestation
The educational documents are solely certified by the state department. Certificate verification is a required step from the board or university where the document is allocated.

SDM Attestation
When HRD or home department attestation is not an option, this attestation is recommended.

MEA Attestation
MEA handles all international relations and issues apostille stamps or stickers as needed. Furthermore, when both the local and destination countries are Hague Convention members, it is the final stage in the apostille legalisation process.
