Mental Health Act Administrator

The MHA Office team provide an excellent service managing and advising on the administration of the Mental Health Act, and supporting our clinical colleagues across the large geographical area of the Trust who provide care to patients subject to the Mental Health Act.

Within our busy team you will be responsible for a range of administrative duties, responding to queries, managing mailboxes and answering telephone calls. You'll be required to ensure the valid completion of statutory documentation, the lawfulness of detentions and treatment, the coordination and organisation of patients appeal and referral hearings and advise on compliance with the MHA Code of Practice.

Flexible/hybrid working is available for this role, there is a requirement to work in the office at least twice per week.

Main duties of the job

You will manage the administration of the Mental Health Act (MHA), the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and associated legislation and guidance. You will support clinicians and Hospital managers applying the Acts, and to encourage best practice by those clinicians and Hospital managers.
